SYMPTOMS
When you try to remove an orphan Microsoft Exchange Domain Servers security group from the Exchange Enterprise Servers security group on a computer that is running Microsoft Windows Server 2003, you may receive the following error message:
The following error message may appear several times in the application log of the domain controller:
CAUSE
This problem may occur if all the following conditions are true:
- You used a child-parent configuration to create two domains.
- You installed an Exchange 2000 Server organization across both domains.
- You removed Exchange 2000 Server from the child domain computer.
- You used the Active Directory Installation Wizard (dcpromo) to demote the child domain computer.
RESOLUTION
