SYMPTOMS

After your Microsoft Windows Server 2003 64-Bit Enterprise Edition-based Itanium computer shuts down abruptly, you may not be able to successfully restart it. For example, this problem may occur after a power failure, after an equipment failure, or after a software failure.

CAUSE

This issue may occur if the loader uses an incorrect calculation for the length of some disk reads. The incorrect value may cause the disk reads to fail. The disk reads might be retried indefinitely.
