Microsoft distributes SQL Server 2000 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2000 fix release.
SYMPTOMS
An access violation exception may occur, and you may receive the following error message:
This problem occurs when a table has an INSTEAD OF trigger defined on it, and you try to update a text column in the table by using a stored procedure.

WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, do not use a stored procedure to update a text column in a table.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
This problem was first corrected in Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 4.
