SYMPTOMS

When you stop and then restart the Virtual Disk Service, either manually or by using a script, Microsoft Windows Server 2003 logs the following event:

Event Type: Error Event Source: Service Control Manager Event Category: None Event ID: 7005 Date: 1/19/2004 Time: 11:22:40 AM User: N/A Description: The RpcImpersonateClient call failed with the following error: No security context is available to allow impersonation.


CAUSE

This problem may occur if one of the following conditions is true:

  • The client process ends soon after the process makes an RPC call to the Service Control Manager.
  • The client process does not permit the RPC server to impersonate the client.


RESOLUTION
