APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Exchange 2000 Enterprise Server, when used with:
    • Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server
    • Microsoft Windows 2000 Datacenter Server

SYMPTOMS

On a clustered or multiprocessor Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server computer, you experience all the following symptoms:

  • The Exchange 2000 computer stops responding to client requests.
  • The Inetinfo.exe process together with the Store.exe process consume 100 percent 0f CPU time.
  • If you run the Performance tool, you notice that a very high number of context switches per second occur. In this scenario, you experience an average of 75,000 context switches up to a maximum of over 100,000 context switches when you monitor the ContextSwitches/Sec counter for the Thread performance object.

If you fail over the cluster node when you experience these symptoms, the issue is temporarily resolved.

Note In special cases, charges that are ordinarily incurred for support calls may be canceled if a Microsoft Support Professional determines that a specific update will resolve your problem.
