SYMPTOMS
When you use the Semantic database analysis command in the Ntdsutil utility to analyze data about Active Directory semantics in Microsoft Windows Server 2003, the Ntds.dit database may report incorrect refcounts. Additionally, if you run a Semantic database analysis with the Go Fix option, the Ntdsutil utility may incorrectly modify the refcounts on some objects in the Ntds.dit database.
CAUSE
This problem occurs because the Ntdsutil utility does not account for deleted links.
RESOLUTION

Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing.
