This event may occur whenever IIS stops responding, including for reasons that are not related to the issue that is addressed in this article. To confirm that this behavior is specifically related to the issue that is addressed in this article, verify that the crash dump file contains the following information:

RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, obtain the August 2004 Exchange 2000 Server Post-Service Pack 3 update rollup.
