SYMPTOMS
On a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 computer, when you turn on the Remove Run menu from Start Menu policy setting, users may still be able to gain access to the Run menu by clicking the New Task (Run) command in Task Manager. This command is available on the File menu in Task Manager's Networking and Users tabs.
RESOLUTION

On a Windows Server 2003 computer, turning on the Remove Run menu from Start Menu policy setting has the following effects:
- The Run command is removed from the Start menu.
- The New Task (Run) command is removed from Task Manager.
- The user is prevented from entering a Universal Naming Convention (UNC) path, a local drive, or a local folder in the Internet Explorer address bar.
This policy setting does not prevent users from using other methods to run programs.
