  • Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1

SYMPTOMS

When you use an application that was created by using the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1, you may notice that the application's memory usage increases over time. When this problem occurs, the application's performance may be reduced or the application may stop responding (hang).

CAUSE

This problem occurs if the application contains IWbemClassObject objects. Every time that the code conversion routine runs, another IWbemClassObject object resides in memory. However, memory is not released as expected. You can verify this problem by viewing the application's memory usage in Microsoft Windows Task Manager. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Right-click the taskbar, and then click Task Manager.
  2. In Windows Task Manager, click the Processes tab.

You will notice that your application's memory usage is increasing.

RESOLUTION
