SYMPTOMS

When you use the Cluster Administrator tool to give users or global groups from a child domain the permissions to use a clustered file share on a Microsoft Windows Server 2003-based domain controller, you may receive the following error message:

Access to a cluster file share can be granted/denied only to domain users and groups. Please remove any local users or groups from the permissions box.



Note You can use Windows Explorer to give users or global groups from a child domain the permissions to use a clustered file share on a Windows Server 2003-based domain controller.

RESOLUTION

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, give users or global groups from the root domain the share permissions for a clustered file share, instead of giving these permissions to users or global groups from a child domain.
