SYMPTOMS
Consider the following scenario. You run Multidimensional Expressions (MDX) queries on a remote computer that is running Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Analysis Services. After the calculations have been completed, the cleaning thread starts to release agents and to clean up memory. When this behavior occurs, the Analysis Services service may shut down and then restart.
To determine whether you are experiencing this problem, set the Execution Location property to 2. This setting directs the queries to the client application instead of to the remote computer that is running SQL Server 2000 Analysis Services. If this setting stops the problem, you are experiencing the problem that is described in this article.
Note Changing this setting may affect query performance.
