SYMPTOMS

Under stress conditions in Microsoft Windows Server 2003 you may experience an access violation (0xC0000005) when you make remote procedure calls (RPCs), because the RPC incorrectly frees a piece of memory two times (a double free).

CAUSE

This problem occurs because of a race condition that is inside the RPC. This problem is most likely to occur if you are running a computer with multiple processors, but the problem may also occur with a computer that only has one processor, under stress conditions.
