SYMPTOMS

When you use the @@ERROR global variable after a remote procedure call, the @@ERROR global variable may return an incorrect value. For example, if you run a stored procedure on a linked server, and then you run a SELECT @@ERROR statement, the result that is returned may be incorrect.

Note You may notice that the result that is returned by the @@ERROR global variable is inconsistent in the different versions of Microsoft SQL Server 2000.

RESOLUTION
