Issues that are fixed in the hotfix package

The following issue is fixed in this hotfix package:

  • 840652 "Error accessing file. Network connection may have been lost." error message when you run a VBA macro that copies a presentation to a new presentation in PowerPoint 2002

The following issues are also fixed in this hotfix package:

  • When you insert a PowerPoint 2002 object and no other Microsoft PowerPoint sessions are running, a separate session of PowerPoint starts and is brought to the foreground. Editing the text in this PowerPoint session does not affect the embedded object.

Note This issue only occurs if one of the following conditions is true:
    • You are using the Turkish version of Microsoft Office XP.
    • You are using the English version of Microsoft Office XP with the Turkish version of the Multilingual User Interface Pack (MUI) and the language setting in Office XP is set to Turkish.
  • Animation in your PowerPoint 2002 presentation may be lost when you edit a table in the presentation, and then close and reopen the presentation.
  • When you open a PowerPoint 2002 presentation that contains text that is formatted with a custom logo font and ClearType font smoothing is turned on, the text that is formatted with the custom logo font may appear overlapping or appear misaligned.

This issue may occur if the presentation was created on a computer that has ClearType font smoothing turned off.

  • When you have Microsoft NetMeeting running (but you are not in a meeting) and you change your presentation from your primary monitor to your secondary monitor in PowerPoint 2002, PowerPoint 2002 may quit unexpectedly and you receive the following error message:

Microsoft PowerPoint has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

If you view the details of the error message, you find an error signature that is similar to the following:

Application Name Application Version Module Name Module Version Offset
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Powerpnt.exe 10.0.4205.0 Powerpnt.exe 10.0.4205.0 0035848a
