SYMPTOMS

You try to save files that are encrypted locally from a Microsoft Windows 2000-based client computer to a shared folder on a Microsoft Windows Server 2003-based computer. Then, you receive the following error message:

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.

This problem was corrected in Windows Server 2003 SP1.

Value name: NtfsDisableEncryption
Value type: REG_DWORD

Value:
- not present: encryption is ENABLED
- 0 = encryption is ENABLED
- 1 = encryption is DISABLED
