SYMPTOMS

After you install Microsoft Office 2003 as an upgrade to a previous version of Microsoft Office, you may notice that some of the previous Office programs and tools are still installed.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs if both of the following conditions are true:

  • The Microsoft Office suites are different suite versions. For example, Microsoft Office Standard and Microsoft Office Professional are different suite versions.
  • The previous version of Office suite has a program that is not in the Office 2003 suite.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, you can use the previous version of the Office programs the way that you did before you installed Office 2003. If you have to use one of the Office Tools, use the appropriate Office Tool for the program that you are using. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. For previous versions of Office programs, click Start, point to All Programs, and then click Microsoft Office Tools.
  2. For Office 2003 programs, click Start, point to All Programs, point to Microsoft Office, and then click Microsoft Office Tools.
