When You Press the Command Key in Full-Screen Mode, Black Borders Appear Around the Virtual Machine Window

SYMPTOMS

When you use Virtual PC 5 under Mac OS 9.x with an Apple Cinema Display, a black border appears around the virtual machine window if you press the COMMAND key while you are in full-screen mode.

CAUSE

This issue may be caused when you update Virtual PC Additions on the virtual machine. This only affects how full-screen mode operates; it does not affect the actual performance of Virtual PC.

RESOLUTION

Set the Video Resolution Matching preference to Don't Adjust on the Preferences page in Virtual PC:

  1. Click Virtual PC, and then click Preferences.
  2. Click Full Screen Mode.
  3. Click to select the Don’t adjust option, and then click OK.
