SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003, the Validating event for the TextBox control occurs in an unexpected order. You can view the order of events in the output debug window.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs when the TextBox control loses the focus. For example, if the TextBox control has the focus, and the focus moves to the TreeView control, the following is the order of events:

Treeview:Click
Treeview:BeforeSelect
Treeview:AfterSelect
TextBox:Validating

The expected order is the following:

TextBox:Validating
Treeview:Click
Treeview:BeforeSelect
Treeview:AfterSelect
