SYMPTOMS

When you visit a Web page that contains Japanese characters and you use the letter-spacing attribute with an HTML element (for example, SPAN or INPUT TYPE="TEXT"), a full-width space character (U+0x3000) may cause incorrect character spacing, as in the following example:

館館館館館館



Note The first line of text contains a full-width space character. The second line does not.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing.
