SYMPTOMS

When you run the Remote Registry Service, you may notice that a significant memory leak occurs over time.

CAUSE

When a program loads and unloads performance counter DLLs from memory, a significant memory leak may occur in the Remote Registry Service.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 4.
