SYMPTOMS

When you try to click the Look in drop down menu in any Open dialog box, you may receive an access violation error message.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if you use a Group Policy Object to prevent the My Documents folder and the Network Neighborhood folder from appearing on the desktop.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 4.
