SYMPTOMS

After you configure Group Policy settings for services that are in the Default Domain Controller Policy, you find that the settings are not applied. Instead, Group Policy settings for services in the Default Domain Policy are used. As a result, services may not start correctly.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if the Group Policy settings for services that are in the Default Domain Controller Policy conflict with the Group Policy settings for services that are in the Default Domain Policy. When these conflicts occur, the Default Domain Policy may override the Default Domain Controller Policy.

RESOLUTION

Service Pack Information

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 4.
