SYMPTOMS
When you use either incremental deployment or full-site deployment to move updates from your Microsoft Content Management Server (MCMS) 2001 or 2002 staging server to the production server, you may receive 404 Page Not Found responses from Internet Information Services (IIS). This behavior occurs because the underlying Microsoft SQL tables are locked for both read and write when you deploy or when you perform background processing. Both articles suggest caching the content of the site in the MCMS cache. This allows MCMS to gather the required content from the cache and avoid a roundtrip to the database. However, this may not to be sufficient to solve the issue. Therefore, the following fix is available.

Service pack information

Hotfix information
The English version of this hotfix has the file attributes (or later file attributes) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time tool in Control Panel.

Note Because of file dependencies, this update requires Content Management Server 2001 Service Pack 1 if you are using MCMS 2001.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this Is a problem In the Microsoft products that are listed In the "Applies To" section. This problem was corrected in Content Management Server 2002 Service Pack 1.
