Site Builder Throws Random Errors When You Create Rights Groups and Templates

APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Content Management Server 2001 Enterprise Edition, when used with:
    • Microsoft Windows 2000 Standard Edition
  • Microsoft Content Management Server 2001 Developer Edition



SYMPTOMS

When the Site Builder client tool is installed on a computer that is running Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 4, Site Builder may generate random errors when you try to create rights groups or Content Management Server templates or both. For example, you may receive the following error messages:

Item cannot be locked

-or-


Remote Procedure call failed

RESOLUTION

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem. This fix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Microsoft Content Management Server 2001 service pack that contains this hotfix.

The English version of this fix has the file attributes (or later) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in coordinated universal time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time tool in Control Panel.

Note Because of file dependencies, this update requires Microsoft Content Management Server 2001 Security Release Package 2 (SRP2).
