SYMPTOMS
When the tape ends and is ejected after you use Ntbackup.exe to append backup data to a tape, you may receive the following error messages
where tape_label_name is the same label name for the tape that has been ejected. If you try to use a blank tape, it may be rejected. If you put the original tape into the tape drive, these symptoms repeat, with the tape being ejected and then you are prompted to use it again.
Note This symptom only occurs with stand-alone tape drives, and not with library tape backup systems.
WORKAROUND
- Click Abort.
- When you are prompted to stop or continue with the backup, click Stop now.
Note Ntbackup.exe indicates that the current backup job is possibly damaged. This is only true for the current backup session. All other backup data from previous sessions are still valid and can be restored. - Remove the current tape, and then use a new blank tape to start a new backup.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
