SYMPTOMS

When you try to install the Microsoft IntelliPoint software that is included with the Microsoft Wireless Desktop Mouse for Bluetooth, you may receive an error message that resembles the following:

Runtime error program: D:\Setup.exe This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the support team for more information.

CAUSE

This behavior may occur if the Microsoft Bluetooth product is incompatible with the version of Microsoft Windows that you are running.

To use the Microsoft Wireless IntelliMouse Explorer for Bluetooth pointing device, you must have Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 1 (SP1) and Microsoft IntelliPoint Software 4.9 installed. All later versions of the Microsoft Bluetooth products require Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) and later versions of the IntelliPoint software.

The minimum system requirements for the Microsoft Wireless IntelliMouse Explorer for Bluetooth are as follows:

• Two AA alkaline batteries (included).
• Pentium 233 megahertz (MHz) or higher processor.
• Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition or Microsoft Windows XP Professional Edition with Service Pack 1 for Windows XP installed.
• Microsoft Windows XP Bluetooth update Windows XP Service Pack 1 and Windows XP Bluetooth update are included in the package for the following languages:
  • English
  • French
  • German
  • Italian
  These languages require 30-50 megabytes (MB) of additional hard-disk space.
• You must have the Windows XP Bluetooth update to install language versions that are not included in the package.
• 128 megabytes (MB) of RAM and 35 MB of available hard-disk space for IntelliPoint software.
• An available USB port on the computer for the Microsoft Wireless Transceiver for Bluetooth (included).
• An existing mouse is required for the installation process.
• You must have Internet access to download Windows XP SP1.
