SYMPTOMS

When you install Wireless Optical Desktop for Bluetooth, after you experience a week or more of standard use without problems, the mouse buttons may no longer work and the mouse may not move the pointer on the screen.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, use the following methods in the order presented.

Method 1: Replace the Batteries in the Device

  1. Turn the device upside down, and then remove the battery compartment cover.
  2. Insert new batteries. Make sure that you correctly orient the positive and negative ends as specified by the battery compartment labels.
  3. Close the battery compartment cover.

If this does not resolve this issue, go to method 2.

Method 2: Remove All Pointing Devices, and then Add the Wireless Device

Part 1: Use Device Manager to Remove All Pointing Devices

  1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
  2. In Control Panel, click Printers and Other Hardware.
  3. Click Wireless Link, and then click the Bluetooth tab.
  4. Right-click the Bluetooth mouse, and then click Remove.
  5. In the Printers and Other Hardware utility in Control Panel, click System in the See Also pane.
  6. In the System Properties dialog box, click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.
  7. In Device Manager, expand Mice and other pointing devices.
  8. Right-click the pointing device, and then click Remove.


Repeat step 8 for each pointing device.

  1. When prompted, restart your computer.

Part 2: Use the Wireless Link Wizard to Install the Bluetooth Mouse

  1. Press the Windows logo key, press the arrow keys to select Control Panel, and then press ENTER.
  2. In Control Panel, use the arrow keys to select Printers and Other Hardware, and then press ENTER.
  3. In the Wireless Link Wizard, use the arrow keys to select Add, and then press ENTER.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation process.
