SYMPTOMS
When you try to run the STSWiz.exe file from the Microsoft Project Server 2002 CD-ROM to installed Microsoft SharePoint Team Services, you may receive the following error message:
CAUSE
This problem occurs because an outdated version of the Richtx32.ocx file is installed on the computer. Richtx32.ocx version 5.0.37.14, with a date of January 14, 1997, is known to cause this problem.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, replace and re-register Richtx32.ocx with the updated version that is provided on the Microsoft Project Server 2002 CD-ROM. To do this, follow these steps:
- Click Start, and then click Run.
- Type cmd, and then press ENTER.
- At the command prompt, type regsvr32 /u Richtx32.ocx, and then press ENTER.
This unregisters the current version of Richtx32.ocx.
- Delete the Richtx32.ocx file from the
windows\system32 folder, wherewindowsis the folder that contains your Microsoft Windows 2000 installation. - Copy the newer version of Richtx32.ocx from the \SUPPORT folder on the Microsoft Project Server 2002 CD-ROM to the
windows\system32 folder. - At the command prompt, type Regsvr32 \winnt\system32\richtx32.ocx, and then press ENTER.
This registers the Richtx32.ocx file
- Quit the command prompt.
- Run STSWiz.exe again.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
