SYMPTOMS
If your network interface is configured to retrieve IP addresses dynamically on a Microsoft Windows XP-based computer, and you do not use a fully qualified domain name (FQDN) as part of an IP address, the ipconfig /all command may not return connection-specific DNS suffixes from the DHCP server.
CAUSE
This problem occurs because of a code defect in the Dnsapi.dll file.
