Windows Err Msg: Change Disk Cannot Find ********.DLL… PSS ID Number: Q71273 Article last modified on 02-04-1992 PSS database name: W_WEP

1.00

WINDOWS

Summary:

When autoloading the Idlewild screen saver program, the messages:

Change Disk: Cannot find ABOUTWEP.DLL Please insert in Drive A:

-and-

Change Disk: Cannot find IWLIB.DLL Please insert in Drive A:

are generated when Microsoft Windows is running under a shell other than Program Manager and the directory containing the Microsoft Entertainment Pack for Windows is not in the DOS path.

To resolve this problem, edit the path statement in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file to include the directory containing the Entertainment Pack files (C:by default).

More Information:

For Idlewild to load properly, it must load IDLEWILD.EXE, ABOUTWEP.DLL, and IWLIB.DLL. When the “shell=” line in SYSTEM.INI declares a shell other than PROGMAN.EXE, Idlewild will be unable to load the DLL files unless the directory containing those files is in the DOS path. Executing the Win command from within the Entertainment Pack directory also will allow Idlewild to load properly.
