UAE When Copying Word for Windows 1.10 Equations Via Clipboard PSS ID Number: Q71248 Article last modified on 05-24-1991 PSS database name: W_PowerPt

2.00

WINDOWS

Summary:

Attempting to paste an equation without a paragraph marker from Word for Windows version 1.10 via the Clipboard into PowerPoint 2.00 may cause an Unrecoverable Application Error (UAE) if you are using a VGA or higher video driver.

More Information:

PowerPoint for Windows 2.00 will not correctly paste any equations from Word for Windows 1.10. This includes equations with or without a paragraph marker, regardless of what video driver is being used. It is the combination of the three elements (the equation, the omission of an end-of-paragraph marker, and the VGA or higher driver) that causes the UAE. Other combinations do not cause a UAE, but they don’t work, either.

Microsoft is researching this problem and will post new information here as it becomes available.
