The information in this article applies to:

  • == Microsoft Word for the Macintosh, versions 4.0, 5.0, 5.1 ==

SYMPTOMS

Text exported from Aldus PageMaker to Microsoft Word for the Macintosh versions 4.0 and 5.x may have different line spacing and character size than it did while in PageMaker.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because PageMaker supports half-point type sizes and line spacing.

MORE INFORMATION

Half-point type is rounded down to the next even number in Word. For example, 14.5-point type in PageMaker becomes 14-point type in Word.

In Word 4.0 only, half-point leading from PageMaker is rounded up to the next integer number. For example, 12.5-point leading in PageMaker becomes 13-point leading in Word.
