WINDOWS

Summary:

Word for Windows version 1.0 1.1 and 1.1a

To save a file created as Text Only, follow these steps:

  1. From the File menu, choose Save As.
  2. Click the Options button and select Text Only.

Word for Windows version 2.0

To save a file created as text only, follow these steps:

  1. From the File menu, choose Save As.
  2. From the Save File as Type menu, select Text Only.

This saves the document as Text Only. However, unless you specify the .TXT extension in the Save Filename field, the file has the .DOC extension, even though it really exists as Text Only. If you open a Text Only document that has the .DOC extension, Word for Windows must do a conversion from the Text Only format into the Word for Windows Normal format.
