Word: File New Dialog Box Doesn’t Generate an Error Code

PSS ID Number: Q58884 Article last modified on 02-17-1993

Summary: If you are creating a macro that uses the File New dialog box in Microsoft Word for Windows version 1.0, you won’t be able to trap the Cancel button. If you cancel a dialog box, an error code is normally generated. This error code can be trapped with an error-trapping routine. The FILENEW macro function generates an error code that cannot be trapped. To work around this behavior, create your own File New dialog box and include an error-trapping routine. Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Word for Windows version 1.0. This problem was corrected in Word for Windows version 1.1.
