The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Word for the Macintosh, version 4.0

SUMMARY

In Word versions 3.x, the Space Before paragraph attribute is ignored for paragraphs that occur in the first paragraph on a page or in the first paragraph in a column. Therefore, the first line on every page lines up in the same place (at the top margin of the page). Word version 4.0, however, does not ignore the Space Before paragraph attribute in paragraphs that occur in the first paragraph on a page or the first paragraph in a column. To work around this problem, you must manually adjust the text.

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Word version 4.0. This problem was corrected in Word version 4.0a.
