PSS ID Number: Q58587 Article last modified on 03-07-1997

The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Word for the Macintosh, versions 4.0 and 5.0

SUMMARY

If you are working with tables in a Word document, the page layout view (page view in Word 4.0) may misrepresent line spacing at the bottom of the page if ALL of the following conditions apply:

  • The table extends over a page break.
  • Minimum cell line spacing is set to 15 points or more.
  • You are using cell borders.

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Word versions 4.0 and 5.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information here as it becomes available.

MORE INFORMATION

In the situation described above, several blank lines may appear at the bottom of the page even though there appears to be room for cell rows. Word may also place several rows of cells on the next page.

This problem is a page layout (page view in 4.0) misrepresentation. Blank lines are not actually present in your document. The printed version of you document will not contain extra lines and the last line of text will be flush with the top of the footer as in normal Word documents.
