“Enter Y To Retry Access to WORD.EXE” on Zenith Supersport 286

PSS ID Number: Q58443 Article last modified on 11-02-1994

5.00

MS-DOS

SUMMARY

It has been reported that the message “Enter Y to retry access to WORD.EXE or press Q to quit” may appear when running Word version 5.00 on a Zenith Supersport 286 laptop. The only response accepted by the program will be to quit, at which time all edits will be lost.

A possible workaround for this problem is to erase the file WORD.EXE in the program directory, copy the files WORD.EXE and WORD.OVL from Program Disk 1 and 2 to this directory and the SPELL.OVL file from the Spell disk, and then start Word from the Program directory.

Microsoft is aware of this problem and will post new information here as it becomes available.
