PSS ID Number: Q57575 Article last modified on 01-25-1996

SUMMARY

This article explains how to access the Microsoft Software Library (MSL) and Microsoft Knowledge Base (KB) on Microsoft Partner Network (MSPN).

Requirements

MSPN Account Number MSPN Software Modem

OnLine Account Number

You must have an MSPN account number available for your use. For more information about obtaining an MSPN account number, contact Microsoft PSS Sales at 800-936-3500.

Connection to MSPN

A modem and Microsoft Partner Network (MSPN) software are required to connect to MSPN. The modem can have a baud rate of either 9600 or 2400. The MSPN software is necessary to act as an interface between your computer and MSPN. The documentation you receive with your MSPN software will guide you in setting up the software to connect to MSPN.

Seattle Area Numbers

9600 baud 286-7622 2400 baud 286-6584

Accessing the MSL and Microsoft Knowledge Base

Once connected to MSPN, you are ready to access either the MSL or the KB. Icons should appear on your screen. Select the icon that corresponds to either the Software Library or Knowledge Base. Then follow the directions that will guide you in using the services.

Articles in the Microsoft Knowledge Base reference files in the Microsoft Software Library (MSL) by using the unique S number assigned to each MSL file. Files in the MSL reference the pointer articles in the KB by using the unique Q numbers of the pertinent KB articles.
