SUMMARY

If a task has been assigned a resource, and the rates for that resource are prorated, any changes to cost values after remaining work has been set to 0 (zero), are added to or removed from the last work period for the resource.

A 10-day task that has been assigned a single resource whose rate is $10/hour has a work value of 80 hours, assuming default working hours. The total cost for the resource, using the formula Work*Rate is $800. If remaining work is set to 0 (actual becomes 80 hours), and the resource cost value is set to $900, then the Resource Usage view, using the Cost format, displays the costs as follows:

This extra amount on day 10 results because any edits to the cost field after remaining work has been set to 0 take place on the last working period. Therefore, the additional $100 is added to the last period, setting the last day to $180.

Conversely, if the cost is adjusted downward to $600, the costs appear as follows:
