Summary:

Tables, paragraph borders, formatted text, and any other Microsoft Word version 4.00 formats that are lost when text is copied to the Clipboard can be imported into Microsoft PowerPoint as a picture. Although this procedure retains the formatting, the text can no longer be edited.

To copy the formatted Word item into PowerPoint as a picture, do the following:

  1. Select the item (press OPTION+double-click on a table or drag over the text).

  2. From the Edit menu, choose Copy As Picture.

Note: If Copy As Picture does not appear on the Edit menu, it may be because the menus are set to short mode. To display full menus, choose Full Menus from the Edit menu. If Copy As Picture still does not appear, choose Commands from the Edit menu (from the Tools menu in Word 5.0). Scroll through the list of Word commands, locate the Copy as Picture command, and add it to a menu.

  3. Start PowerPoint.

  4. From the Edit menu, choose Paste.
