FIX: SHIFT+Click to Select Text in 100K File May Fail

Article ID: 57380

Article Last Modified on 11/21/2006

This article was previously published under Q57380

SYMPTOMS

Selecting a block of text near the end of a large file (approximately 100K or larger) sometimes does not work properly when using the following steps:

  1. Place the insertion point at some location that you want to mark as the beginning of the selection block.
  2. While holding down the SHIFT key, click the mouse at some other location to mark the end of the selection block.

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a bug in the Interpreter environment in Microsoft QuickBasic version 1.00 for the Apple Macintosh. This problem is corrected in QuickBasic version 1.00b.

MORE INFORMATION

When the selection works incorrectly, the inverse video selection block either falls short or runs past where you SHIFT+clicked to mark the end of the selection.

This behavior does not occur if you try to select text near the beginning of a file. Paging down towards the end of the file and selecting text in the manner described above demonstrates the problem.
