File: Transferring to and from FileMaker

Summary:

To transfer files from FileMaker 1.0 to Microsoft File, do the following:

  1. Open the file in FileMaker.
  2. From the File menu, choose Output To.
  3. Select the appropriate fields to save (or click Move All to save all fields).
  4. Click the Text and Unformatted buttons and save the file.

This file can be opened into all versions of File using the following procedure:

  1. Open File and create a new data file.
  2. Define appropriate fields, and close the form.
  3. From the File menu, choose Open Datafile and open the saved data file.

To transfer files from Microsoft File to FileMaker, do the following:

  1. Create a new database (or open an existing one) with appropriate fields.
  2. From the File, menu choose Input From.
  3. Select the appropriate fields from the list (or select Move All to import using all fields).
  4. Click the Text button and click Input to read the file.
