Excel: Cannot Edit Single Cell of an Array

Last reviewed: November 2, 1994
Article ID: Q52058

SUMMARY

In Microsoft Excel, once an array formula has been entered in a range, individual cells cannot be cut, cleared, edited, or modified. However, if the entire range that contains the array is selected, it is possible to cut, clear, or edit the cells as a group.

To select an entire array range in Excel version 2.20 or 3.00, hold down the COMMAND and SHIFT keys and double-click any cell in the array range. In Excel version 1.50, double-click any cell in the array range.
