To center text vertically on a page in Word, use the Format Position command, as follows:

  1. Select the text to be centered.
  2. Set the Format Paragraph “Alignment” field to Centered.
  3. Set the Format Position “Vertical” position field to Centered. Set the “Relative To:” field to Page if the left and right margins are not equal; otherwise leave it set to Margin.
  4. Press CTRL+F9 to view the results in Print Preview.

Word version 5.0

To center text vertically on a page in Word version 5.00, use the Format Position command, as follows:

  1. Select the text to be centered.
  2. Set the Format Paragraph “alignment:” field to Centered.
  3. Set the Format Position “vertical frame position:” field to Centered. Set the “relative to:” field to Page if the left and right margins are not equal; otherwise leave it set to Margin.
  4. Press CTRL+F9 to view the results in Print Preview.

Word Version 4.0

To position text vertically in Word version 4.0, use the Format Paragraph command as follows:

  1. Select the text to be centered.
  2. Set the Format Paragraph “alignment:” field to Centered. Enter a measurement in the “space before:” field that is approximately half the height of the printed page (for example, 5 in or 60 li).
  3. Print the page to see the results, and adjust the “space before:” field if necessary.
