SUMMARY
The NEC ProSpeed 386 is supplied with VGA-compatible video and is recognized as such by Word version 5.00. However, this is correct only when using an external monitor. The internal screen is capable only of displaying EGA resolution. When Word is set up, EGA must be explicitly selected as the video type.
A problem will occur only when using the video modes specific to VGA (modes 3, 5, 6, and 8). When using Print Preview with the VGA video driver, the command menu is pushed off the bottom of the screen.
