Printer driver support for the Hewlett-Packard (HP) PaintJet XL and Microsoft Word for MS-DOS versions 5.0 and 5.5 is available from the Supplemental Printer Kit for Word version 5.5b. You can obtain the Supplemental Printer Kit from Microsoft End User Sales at (800) 426-9400. If you call from outside the United States, contact Microsoft International Customer Service at (206) 936-8661.
The printer driver DWXHP1 can also found in the Software/Data Library by searching on the word DWXHP1, the Q number of this article, or S12819. DWXHP1 was archived using the PKware file-compression utility.
DWXHP1.EXE is the filename that contains the HP PaintJet .PRD files on the Microsoft Download Service (MSDL).

Only Courier and LetterGothic are resident fonts; all others require that the font cartridge be installed.
Limitations when Printing from Word 5.0
You cannot print graphics and text next to one another or print graphics enclosed by a border. Side-by-side graphics are not supported, and a graphic cannot have any other text or graphics to the left or right of it. Graphics must be preceded by a single carriage return or linefeed, and print flush against the left margin of the page.
If you want to print the graphic in a different horizontal location, place the cursor on the “G” of the .G. in the line that contains the information about a graphic. Run the macro listed below. The macro prompts you for a measure of how far you want the graphic positioned from the left margin of the page. You must have the “show hidden text:” field in the Options menu set to Yes to use this macro. The macro is as follows:

Note: The left chevron (<<) and right chevron (>>) shown above are created by pressing CTRL+[ (left square bracket) and CTRL+] (right square bracket) within Word. The “<-” shown above is the escape character and is created by pressing ALT+Keypad 27.
Word 5.5 corrects all but one of these problems. Word 5.5 will not be able to print a border around a graphic.
