The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Word for the Macintosh versions 4.0, 5.0

SUMMARY

When using DocuComp to compare two Microsoft Word for the Macintosh version 4.0 or 5.0 documents that contain tables, the comparison document cannot compare the tables in their original format.

DocuComp takes each cell of a table and puts it on a separate line. This results in a comparison document with as many lines as there are cells in the document being compared.

To have the comparison document in DocuComp resemble the original document, the table must first be converted to text. To convert the table to text, do the following:

  1. Select the complete table (Option+double-click in table).
  2. From the Document menu, choose Table To Text.
  3. Select the option to have the text tab-delimited.
  4. Arrange the tabs on the ruler so the table appears as desired.
