Replacing a Text String with Contents of the Clipboard

SUMMARY
In versions 5.0 and earlier of Microsoft Word for the Macintosh, to replace a specified character string with the contents of the Clipboard, do the following:
- Select the text that you want to copy to the Clipboard (the text you want to use as the replacement text) and choose Copy from the Edit menu.
- In Word 5.0, choose Replace from the Edit menu. In Word 4.0, choose Search from the Utilities menu. In Word 3.x, choose Change from the Search menu.
- In the Find What box, type the text string you want to replace.
- For Word 5.0, select Clipboard Contents from the Special box under the Replace With box. For Word 3.x and 4.0, type “^c” (without the quotation marks) in the Change To box.
- In Word 5.0, choose the Find Next button or the Replace All button. In Word 3.x and 4.0, choose the Start Search button or the Change All button.
Note: Although the contents of the Clipboard can be used to replace information as done in the above procedure, the contents of the Clipboard cannot be specified as search criteria.
