Text Runs Past Right Margin in Print Preview

SUMMARY

In versions 5.x and earlier of Microsoft Word for the Macintosh, print preview may not always give an accurate representation of the right margin of a document; the text often appears ragged or it appears to run over the right edge of the paper. This running over is due to the scaling that occurs in print preview so that a document will fit on a screen display.

Lines of text with few or no spaces are especially likely to run over the right edge in print preview.

To see the correct layout of the document, view the document in page view or print it out.

The Fractional Widths option also affects how some fonts will look in print preview. (To apply the Fractional Widths option, choose Page Setup from the File menu and select the Fractional Widths check box.)
