The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Word for the Macintosh versions 4.0, 5.0

SUMMARY

In versions 4.0 and 5.0 of Microsoft Word for the Macintosh, the Find Formats command may not select a paragraph, that has formatting identical to the one originally selected.

To use the Find Formats command:

Word 5.0 ——–

From the Tools menu choose Commands and select Find Formats in the list of commands.

Word 4.0 ——–

Press COMMAND+OPTION+R.

To correct this problem:

  1. From the File menu, choose Save As and select Interchange Format (RTF) from the Save File As Type list. (In Word 4.0 choose the File Format button, select the Interchange Format (RTF) option, and choose the OK button.)
  2. Give the document a new name and choose the Save button.
  3. Close the document.
  4. Open the document that you saved in the RTF format. If Word prompts you with a dialog box asking if you want to interpret RTF text, choose the Yes button.

The Find Formats command should now work correctly.
